In 2002, when dhirubhai ambani passed away there were some major ownership issues between Anil Ambani & Mukesh Ambani Both wanted to run the business on their own terms After some public feud between both the brothers, their mother intervened & split reliance into two parts Anil Ambani got telecom, entertainment, power and financial services business while Mukesh Ambani received Reliance Industries and IPCL. Although Anil Ambani got the Reliance Communications, but it was Mukesh Ambani who started it Mukesh ambani offered free cell phones as well as introduced cheaper call rates in India and because of him only, other telecom operators have to reduce their call rates At that time, Anil Ambani was not even having a seat in it’s board of directors. But still during the dispute, anil ambani took over reliance communications That is not all. To prevent Mukesh Ambani from making another telecom company, they had inserted a non-compete clause in the agreement In 2010, as soon as the non-compete agreement was expired, Mukesh Ambani bought 96% stake in Infotel Broadband Infotel Broadband had won 4G spectrum in all sectors in India. Later they renamed it to Jio and started building fiber optic network around the country This is not just about personal rivalry. It’s about Mukesh Ambani’s experience with Reliance Communications Mukesh Ambani knows that existing network providers are not good enough and that he can easily compete with them and win. Telecom is also a very lucrative business and mukesh ambani once ruled it very well Telecom companies make around Rs.150/ 2$ per user. But still reliance jio is likely to make more money than any other player in the market Because they are offering much more value to the customers through their services & tarrif plans By offering unlimited calls, double amount of data than their competitors & unlimited night consumption.. They will make Rs.250/4$ per user and that is why they are running unlimited data schemes to prepare the customer at a subconcious level for spending more in future In order to serve a large audience, they are also regularly improving their network quality Reliance Jio has already invested 1.5 Lakh Crores in their Fiber Optic Network Even if we combine Airtel, Vodafone & Idea worth, then also it is a 2 times more investment that they have made Overall, India need such companies who can invest & take such bold moves I strongly believe that apart from Mukesh Ambani, no other business person can manage such a huge project. It is a win-win situation where in long term consumers as well as the company will get benefit.
